CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that the inflammation induced D3 decrease in the hypothalamus is mediated by the inflammatory pathways NF-κB and AP-1, but not TRα1. Furthermore, the observed decrease modulates intracellular T3 concentrations. Our results suggest a concerted action of inflammatory modulators to regulate both hypothalamic D2 and D3 activity in order to increase the local TH concentrations. CONCLUSION: All new synthesized compound exhibited lower toxicity against neuroblastoma cell line (SH-SY5Y) in comparison with tacrine. Two analogues in the series, 7 and 9, demonstrated lack of cytotoxicity against hepatocellular cells (hepG2). PMID: 31309898 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study, a series of selective butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitors was designed and synthesized from the structural optimization of hit 1, a 4-((3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)methyl)benzoic acid derivative identified by virtual screening our compound library. The in vitro enzyme assay results showed that compounds 9 ((4-((3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)methyl)phenyl)(pyrrolidin-1-yl)methanone) and 23 (N-(2-bromophenyl)-4-((3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)methyl)benzamide) displayed improved BChE inhibitory activity and good selectivity towards BChE versus AChE. Their binding modes were probed by molecular dock...

AbstractLong non ‐coding RNA (LncRNA) neuroblastoma associated transcript 1 (NBAT1) was demonstrated to be significantly downregulated in renal carcinoma (RCC) cells. However, the function and mechanism of NBAT1 in RCC is poorly understood. The expression of NBAT1 and glycogen synthase kinase‐3β (GSK‐3β)‐m ediated Wnt/β‐catenin‐related proteins were measured by quantitative real‐time PCR (qRT‐PCR) and western blotting in RCC cell lines. Cell viability, migration, and invasion were estimated by CCK‐8 and Transwell assay. The association of miR‐346 with GSK‐3β expression was verified...

ConclusionsThe natural history of MSCC in children is associated to permanent paralysis, sensory loss, and sphincter dysfunction, thus prompt diagnosis and correct management are needed to minimize morbidity. Treatment strategies differed widely among cancer types and study groups in the absence of optimal evidence-based treatment guidelines. When the diagnosis is uncertain, surgery provides an opportunity to biopsy the lesion in addition to treating the mass.

MR Abstract The oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) system located in the mitochondria is the main source of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in mammals. The mitochondria are also the main site of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in those cells. Disruption of the mitochondrial redox biology has been seen in the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. In this regard, we have tested here whether kahweol (KW; C20H26O3), a diterpene present in coffee, would be able to promote mitochondrial protection in the human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells exposed to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). A pretreatment (for 12...
