h W Abstract Tetra-amelia is extremely rare with an incidence of 2.4 per 10,000,000 births. It describes the absence of all 4 outer extremities and can be associated with other malformations. The boy presented here was diagnosed at 22 1/7 weeks of gestation by sonography in 2D and 3D mode. The parents decided to continue the pregnancy; vaginal birth occurred after external rotation at 38 1/7 weeks of pregnancy. Postnatally, surgical closure of a cleft of the soft palate was performed. External abnormalities manifested themselves increasingly in the area of the spine and the face. The anatomically limited psychomot...

We describe the case of an adolescent with severe traumatic brain injury after being run over by a car. After four months of hospitalization in a Central Hospital where he remained in a vegetative state, he was transferred to a Rehabilitation Center. He underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation program with physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, including multisensory stimulation and intervention in the surrounding environment. He started amantadine, 50 mg/day, titrated up to 200 mg/day, with significant clinical and functional improvements, and emerged from vegetative state to minimally conscious state at ...

CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study to have observed an increase in UL practice with the inclusion of RT-UL as part of routine clinical practice. This increase in practice is considered to be due to RT-UL providing highly supportive and expeditious semi-supervised practice. Notably, RT-UL was able to be implemented within the existing organisational structures with only basic training of therapy staff. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION Robotics presents as a viable intervention to increase the amount and intensity of upper limb practice performed by stroke survivors in routine clinical practice Robotics were able to be impl...

CONCLUSION: The amount of stroke therapy is associated with unmodifiable patient-related characteristics and modifiable organizational factors in that more therapy was associated with higher therapy and nurse staffing levels, specialist stroke rehabilitation services, timely therapy assessments, and the presence of weekend and early discharge services. Abstract Nerve transfer surgery (NT) for patients with nerve and spinal cord injuries can result in dramatic functional improvements. As a result, interdisciplinary complex nerve injury programs (CNIPs) have been established in many Canadian centres, providing electrodiagnostic and surgical consultations in a single encounter. We sought to determine which allied health care services are included in Canadian CNIPs, at the 3rd Annual Canadian Peripheral Nerve Symposium. Twenty CNIPs responded to a brief survey and reported access as follows: occupational therapy=60%, physiotherapy=40%, social work=20%, mental health...

CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate a heterogeneous indexation of the included journals. Only a small number is indexed in common international literature databases such as MEDLINE or CINAHL. On the other hand, only a few journals are not indexed in any database. The results can be used as a basis to define databases for literature searches as part of systematic reviews. In addition, the findings might guide the selection of journals for hand searching after literature databases have been defined. PMID: 32439423 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions and significance: A reciprocal learning situation was created when students worked together in a virtual setting. Communicating and making shared decisions about a patient can facilitate learning how to communicate interprofessionally and improve students' understanding of their own profession.
