The objective is to propose a global method relying on the combined analysis of radiological, clinical and epidemiological criteria, (taking into account the child’s age and the topography of the lesion) in order to improve our histological approach in imaging, helping the management and approach for surgeons in providing information to the patients’ parents. Infratentorial tumors are the most frequent in children, representing mainly medulloblastoma, pilocytic astrocytoma and brainstem glioma. Pre-surgical identification of the tumor type and its aggressiveness could be improved by the combined analysis of key...

Abstract The repressor element 1-silencing transcription factor/neuron-restrictive silencer factor (REST/NRSF) binds to repressor element 1/neuron-restrictive silencer element (RE1/NRSE) sites in the genome and recruits effector proteins to repress its target genes. Here, we developed the FlpTRAP system to isolate endogenously assembled DNA-protein complexes such as the REST/NRSF complex. In the FlpTRAP system, we take advantage of the step-arrest variant of the Flp recombinase, FlpH305L, which, in the presence of Flp recognition target (FRT) DNA, accumulates as FRT DNA-protein adduct. The FlpTRAP system consists ...

Abstract Medulloblastomas present generally a-specifically as a fast-evolving posterior fossa tumor. Medical literature is poor concerning clinical features of medulloblastomas and their potential significance. In the present study, we reviewed 91 pediatric observations of medulloblastomas treated in Lille between 1997 and 2017. Clinical and epidemiological variables were collected and intercorrelated. They were also compared with anatomical and pathological findings, and outcome, with the aim of defining clinical-pathological entities. We also compared the group with 32 cases of posterior fossa ependymoma and 130...

Utilizing single-cell transcriptomic analysis, we demonstrated a developmental hierarchy of progenitor pools in Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) me...

The 13-year-8-month-old boy suffered from lower back pain 2 weeks ago and progressive right lower limb weakness and numbness from bilateral feet ascending to the lumbar region since 4 days ago. There was no accompanying headache, vomit, and bowel or bladder dysfunction. Neurologic examination revealed right lower limb weakness with muscle power grade 1/5 distally and 3/5 proximally and diminished sensations below T7 dermatome. Furthermore, the anal tone was mildly loose. Deep tendon reflex of right lower limb increased.
