We report the case of a 44-year-old patient with low back pain and radiculopathy. Radiographs revealed lytic spondylolisthesis in L5. Magnetic resonance imaging showed hypointense signal on T1 and a heterogeneous signal on T2 located in the L4-L5 interspinous space and in the left facet joint that invades left neuroforamen. The left knee ultrasound showed “double contour” of the medial femoral condyle. Decompressive laminectomy with arthrodesis at the level of L5-S1 was performed. The histological examination revealed amorphous material with a foreign body giant cell reaction.ResumenLos depósitos de tofo...

Imaging with biomechanical analysis augments the clinical examination and improves outcomes by correlating imaging findings with the examination. Plain film radiographs are the gold standard to assess osseous alignment. The biomechanical examination provides information to formulate an accurate assessment. Weightbearing computed tomography scanning is a potentially valuable for functional information about joint biomechanics. True alignment of the lower extremity can be appreciated on weightbearing computed tomography scanning. Soft tissue structures can be assessed with diagnostic ultrasound examination. Acute and chronic...

There is a wide variety of causes of diffuse lung disease in the intensive care unit patient, of which adult respiratory distress syndrome is the commonest clinical consideration. Plain radiography, computed tomography, and ultrasound can be used synergistically to evaluate patients with diffuse lung disease and respiratory impairment. Imaging is not limited to characterization of the cause of diffuse lung disease but also aids in monitoring its evolution and in ventilator setting management.

ConclusionThere are numerous reports of the minimally invasive repair of CSD; however, it remains unknown in the obstetrical literature when interventions are required. Patients with minimal myometrial thinning and without evidence of serosal dehiscence may not require repair of the defect. More evidence is needed to observe obstetrical outcomes with or without repair.

ConclusionTE interfaced with ultrasound in this hybrid machine presents no learning curve effect. After a short initial training session, a novice observer is able to perform high rates of reliable and very reliable TE measurements.Key Points• When performing liver stiffness measurements using a new hybrid machine composed of transient elastography interfaced with ultrasound, the rate of failures of measurements is very low, below 5%.• After a short training session and using ultrasound planning, a novice operator, whatever its expertise in ultrasound imaging, is capable of performing high rates of reliable and v...

Publication date: Available online 13 October 2019Source: Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRIAuthor(s): Angelica Patino Gonzalez, Lucy Modahl, Daniel KowalAbstractImaging plays a central role in the diagnosis of pulmonary infections with the chest radiograph as the initial study of choice. CT can further delineate the extent of disease and present key imaging signs that, along with clinical history and laboratory data, can properly guide the differential diagnosis. In this article, we review and illustrate the most relevant CT imaging manifestations of common and less common pulmonary infections, including a section devoted...
