Prevalence and determinants of abnormal glucose metabolism in urban and rural secondary schools in Cameroon: A cross-sectional study in a sub-Saharan Africa setting

Glucose metabolism abnormalities are a group of metabolic disorders characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from lack of secretion and or action of insulin [1]. It is a major cardiovascular risk factor responsible for high morbidity and mortality due to the high number of affected organs [2,3]. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) global statistics published in 2014, diabetes mellitus, like high blood pressure, increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and several types of cancer.
