Association of serum proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 with early atherosclerosis in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus
Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is rapidly gaining attention as a potential risk of developing atherosclerosis due to its crucial role in the regulation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) metabolism. The present study investigated the relationship between serum PCSK9 levels and early atherosclerosis as assessed by carotid intimal-medial thickness (CIMT) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV) in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
