Does anchorage loss differ with 0.018-inch and 0.022-inch slot bracket systems?

CONCLUSIONS: Bracket slot size does not influence maxillary molar anchorage loss during orthodontic treatment. PMID: 31013131 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsOrbital floor reconstruction performed via transmaxillary endoscopy is a safe technique, which allows for detailed visualization of the fracture rim, avoids external scars, and permits an easier reduction of the prolapsed orbital content into the overlying orbital cavity. Virtual planning plays an important role in defining the appropriate geometry of the bone graft and establishing the optimal reconstruction strategy. Our preliminary results indicate that virtual planning and 3D printing should become part of an integrated protocol for the endoscopic treatment of orbital floor fractures.

Abstract Positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) are powerful molecular imaging methods for examining disease-related factors in the whole body using specific imaging probes. Recently, we tried to develop molecular imaging probes that specifically visualize pathological factors associated with cancers and infectious diseases. Although survivin is highly expressed in several cancers, its expression is undetectable in non-dividing tissues. Thus, we developed several small molecular imaging probes that target survivin. These ligands not only showed high affinity for s...

Authors: Lin CY, Chang YC, Wang IT, Hsieh MH, Wang CW, Lin SM, Wu CY, Fang YF Abstract Pretreatment tumor metabolic burden, measured using fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT), has been demonstrated to predict outcomes in various types of malignancies. Additionally, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) serum titer is associated with stages of pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC). The present study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of the functional parameters of 18F-FDG PET/CT in pulmonary LELC and their association with serum EBV DNA. The pre...

Authors: Størup G, Sørensen AN, Dalsgaard A, Grønkjær M Abstract INTRODUCTION: For decades, ultrasound has enabled determination of foetal sex. Foetal sex is medically indicated in sex-linked diseases, syndromes and multiple pregnancy, but genital malformations are rare. However, guidelines on standard views seem sparse and foetal sex determination is not considered mandatory. The aim of this study was to provide an initial overview on the practice of foetal sex determination in Denmark and the accuracy of the examinations at the second trimester anomaly scan at a regional and a universit...

Conclusions and significance: Occupational adaptation is a concept applied across many practice and research contexts, yet the concept is not fully mature. Concept refinement is required before further applied research is conducted. A shared understanding of occupational adaptation through refinement and research may consolidate its importance and future utility. PMID: 31786968 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We report on a patient with severe psoriasis vulgaris who developed drug-induced interstitial lung disease (DILD) during treatment with ustekinumab. The diagnosis was based on coincidence with start of therapy, high-resolution computer tomography of the thorax and bronchoalveolar lavage. After discontinuation of the treatment with ustekinumab the clinical symptoms and the chest scan results improved. This case highlights a possible adverse event of ustekinumab. In this study we design green synthesis of a novel ZnO nanocarrier loaded with paclitaxel as a drug delivery system with high cytotoxicity against breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) and low side effects on the normal cell line (fibroblast). Paclitaxel is formulated in high concentration in Cremophor EL because of its low solubility. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were prepared by the ethanolic extract of Camellia sinensis L., then coated with chitosan (Ch) and loaded with paclitaxel (PTX) to improve drug delivery. The physicochemical properties were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermo-gravimetric an...
