Psychotropic substance abuse and fitness to hold a driving license in Italy.

CONCLUSION: Cocaine and cannabinoids were the most used substances in the analyzed population, alone and in combination. Benzodiazepines were the most commonly detected prescription medication, raising questions about prescribed medication and driving risk that are not addressed by current legislation.
