Emerging Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance (EIDAR).
CONCLUSIONS: The EIDAR Research Area is responsive to military-relevant infectious disease threats that are also frequently global public health concerns. Several new EIDAR efforts are underway that will provide Combatant Command Surgeons, Infectious Diseases Service Chiefs, and other Force Health Protection stakeholders with epidemiological information to mitigate the impact of EIDs and antimicrobial resistance on the health of U.S. military service members and their dependents. The findings of this report highlight the importance of treating health as our greatest national asset to nurture and protect, with preventative health requiring more attention in the long-term. Importantly, social care needs to be given the same weighting as to the NHS to accelerate the move towards health and social care integration. Patient pathways need to be reconfigured to integrate NHS and social care around patient and citizen needs so that improved outcomes are the goal, with digital and data technologies as enablers – the means to the end, rather than the end in itself. The urgency, speed and agility seen w...
We compare two ways to draw epidemic curves using current Spanish and England COVID-19 case data and show that one supports the idea of a continued growth in cases, the other shows initial rapid growth followed by a flattening of the curve. Objectives: Clinical features of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) have been well-described in the literature, however, characterization of features experienced by patients with other eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs) is lacking. Using data collected from a patient contact registry, we sought to characterize and contrast patient-reported gastrointestinal and extragastrointestinal symptoms and comorbidities in non-EoE EGIDs, including eosinophilic gastritis, gastroenteritis and colitis, relative to EoE. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of contact registry data collected from 2015 to 2018. Statist...
Conclusions: AT after KP confirmed conflicting results; therefore, multicentered, prospective, randomized control studies are needed to better understand its utility after KP, especially in the multidrug resistance spread era.
