112 Skin micro-sampling device, MicrobiopsyTM is more sensitive to detect known melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer biomarkers on volunteers
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) often appears on the face and neck and recurrence rates are significant. Our patented skin Micobiopsy is a minimally invasive device that does not require local anaesthetic nor sutures. The aims of this study were to evaluate 1) feasibility of microbiopsy sampling in suspected BCC lesions; 2) evaluate sample quality for Real-Time PCR biomarker analysis; and 3) compare BCC mRNA biomarker expression levels to conventional shave biopsy. We collected 1,170 microbiopsy samples from 106 patients with suspected BCC lesions.
