255 Prospective evaluation of body mass index, sun-protective behavior and keratinocyte carcinoma risk

We sought to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and keratinocyte carcinoma (KC) risk by studying a high-risk population of 932 veterans in the Veterans Affairs Keratinocyte Carcinoma Chemoprevention (VAKCC) Trial. Participants enrolled had at least two KCs in the 5 years prior to enrollment, and were mainly white males with a median age of 71 years. The median follow-up duration was 2.8 years. 108 patients developed invasive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and 302 patients developed basal cell carcinoma (BCC).
