679 Pharmacological validation of a mouse model of atopic dermatitis induced by topical calcipotriol
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common inflammatory skin disease. Malfunction of the epidermal barrier, along with an immune dysregulation play a major role in its onset. AD patients ’ keratinocytes produce thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a cytokine that indirectly induces the differentiation of T lymphocytes towards a Th2 phenotype. In addition, overexpression of TSLP in mouse keratinocytes induces the onset of AD-like clinical signs and inflammation. TSLP expression can be induced in mouse skin by repeated topical application of calcipotriol, a synthetic vitamin D3 analogue.
