Role of fat graft alone versus enriched fat graft with stromal vascular filtrate in painful amputation stump

Conclusion: Autologous fat grafting is a viable and minimally invasive solution for painful amputation stump. Enrichment of fat graft with SVF can enhance its viability over long term. This study was done as a pilot project. Hence, further long term studies with large sample size are needed to ascertain the benefits observed in this study.

Conclusion: Our results indicate that early CT or MRI dynamic contrast enhancement of suspected cases could improve rapid diagnosis. However, diagnostic criteria remain problematic and diagnosis is mostly based on a combination of clinical suspicion, serologic markers, and radiologic findings.

Accumulating evidence has shown that complicated brain systems are involved in the development and maintenance of chronic low back pain (cLBP), but the association between brain functional changes and clinical outcomes remains unclear. Here, we used resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and multivariate pattern analysis to identify abnormal functional connectivity (FC) between the default mode, sensorimotor, salience, and central executive brain networks in cLBP and tested whether abnormal FCs are related to pain and comorbid symptoms. Fifty cLBP patients and 44 matched healthy controls (HCs) underwent...

Conclusions The recent, first randomized clinical trial demonstrated overall and progression free survival benefits after SBRT to oligometastatic disease which supports prior retrospective case series (6). The spine is a common site of metastatic bone disease, and as high quality data continue to mature, along with completion of additional randomized clinical trials, it is expected that utility of SBRT to the spine will increase in the future. Spine SBRT is unique due to the requirement of sharp dose falloff to prevent serious neurologic morbidity. With recent advances in radiotherapy planning, robotic patient positionin...

This study aimed to investigate a potential correlation between NGF serum levels and brain structural differences in schizophrenia. Furthermore, a potential overlap between the results of a whole brain correlation analysis between GMV and NGF serum levels and the results of GMV reductions in schizophrenia patients were identified in a conjunction analysis.Materials and MethodsSubjectsEighteen schizophrenia patients from the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics, University Hospital RWTH Aachen, Aachen, Germany, and 19 gender- and age-matched healthy controls from the general population participated in ...

This study protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the hospital. Data Collection Demographic and clinical data were retrieved from medical records in the hospital’s centralized database. These data included the age at diagnosis, International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecologic (FIGO) stage, tumor histology and grade, type of surgery, and types and cycles of chemotherapy. Disease staging was based on the 2014 FIGO staging system. Optimal debulking surgery was defined as residual tumors with maximal diameters less than 1 cm; the others were defined as suboptimal debulking surgery. Disease rec...

In conclusion, robotic surgery allows performing partial adrenalectomy with a lower risk of bleeding and with preservation of healthy adrenal tissue, which is of paramount importance for the patient as it reduces recovery time and the need for medical substitution therapy. PMID: 31007910 [PubMed]

In this study, we assessed the relationship of ΔHR (difference between resting HR and HRt) and recovery from SRC. Using a retrospective cohort design, we compared acutely (30 days) in RG (p = 0.01) and PG (p = 0.04). A ΔHR of ≤50 bpm on the BCTT is 73% sensitive and 78% specific for predicting prolonged recovery in concussed adolescents who were prescribed the current standard of care (i.e., cognitive and physical rest). Introduction Sport-related concussion (SRC), a type of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), is a significant public health concern (1, 2). Concussion is defined as reversible neurolog...

Conclusions The treatment used for PD, particularly DA, is associated with the development of ICDs and related behaviors. Susceptibility to these disorders depends on the associated risk factors. ICDs can have serious personal, family, psychosocial, financial, and medical consequences. However, in contrast, artistic activities have been described in patients with PD while undergoing treatment with DA. These patients are compulsive but report a positive influence on quality of life. These findings highlight the need for a very critical approach at the moment of Dopaminergic Replacement therapy choice. Author Contributio...
