In this study, the protective effects of short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides (scFOS) on oxidized oil feeding-induced intestinal dysfunction were evaluated. Piglets were fed either a control diet, an oxidized oil diet, or an oxidized oil diet supplemented with scFOS (4 g/kg diet) for 28 days. The results showed that scFOS increased the expression of tight junction proteins and decreased the production of malondialdehyde and pro-inflammatory cytokines in jejunum of oxidized oil-challenged piglets. In this study, we analyzed and compared the intestinal microbiota composition of patients with idiopathic focal epilepsy (n = 30) and healthy volunteer group (n = 10) by 16s ribosomal DNA sequencing.
