Deborah Norville "so grateful" after cancer surgery

"Inside Edition's" Deborah Norville says she is grateful to the concerned fan who spotted a lump on her neck about 20 years ago. Two weeks ago, her surgeon removed most of her thyroid after nodules in her neck tested positive for cancer. On Monday, Norville was back on the air again. She joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss her experience and what people should do spot similar risks.

Cuencas Barrientos, Fernanda Mozzi, Micaela PescumaAbstractSelenium (Se), which is present as SeCys in seleno-proteins, is involved in cancer prevention, thyroid functioning, and pathogen inhibition. Se is incorporated in the diet through Se-containing foods. Some lactic acid bacteria (LAB) can biotransform selenite (toxic) into Se-nanoparticles (SeNPs) and Se-amino acids. To exert their beneficial properties in the host, bacteria should survive the harsh conditions of the gastrointesti...

The objective of this review is to summarize the morphological characterization and the exp ression of stem cell genes/markers in the thyroid. Also, to highlight the mechanisms of tumor formation in thyroid via its stem cells. The most important thyroid stem cell’s markers are: stem cell antigen 1 (SCA-1), octamer-binding transcription 4 (OCT-4), p63, CD34+ CD45-, paired box gene 8 (PAX- 8), thyroid transcription factor 1 (TTF-1), thyroid transcription factor 2 (TTF-2), hematopoietically expressed homeobox protein HHEX, the transcription factor GATA-4, hepatocyte nuclear factor 4-α (HNF-4-α) and homeobox ...

This reporter group also includes lines driven by ubiquitous promoters like CMV and human ubiquitin C. These are particularly useful for cut-and-paste, transplantation-based experiments to label and fate map regions of host embryos. The second group of reporter expression lines includes transgenics marking subcellular organelles (Supplementary Table S1B). These are highly useful for the study of molecular processes involved in cell function and are especially effective when utilized in the context of Xenopus egg extracts, the only cell-free system that permits full investigation of all DNA transactions related to cell cyc...

Millennials are often credited with driving the $4.2 trillion global wellness market, with their love of pursuits like yoga, meditation and boutique fitness. But despite their reputation for valuing health and wellness, millennials are in worse health than their elders in Generation X used to be, according to a new report from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. Millennials — who in 2017 were ages 21 to 36 — were overall in good health that year, according to Blue Cross’s data analysis of 55 million commercially insured millennials. But around age 27, millennials’ health began to decline —...

Authors: Kim MJ, Kim SM, Lee EK, Hwangbo Y, Lee YJ, Cho SW, Park DJ, Lee Y, Park YJ Abstract Sorafenib has emerged as an effective therapeutic option for radioactive iodine (RAI)-refractory, locally advanced or metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). We investigated the efficacy and safety of sorafenib treatment in a real-world setting and unveil predictive markers of responsiveness to sorafenib. The treatment response, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival, and adverse events (AEs) of sorafenib-treated RAI-refractory, locally advanced or metastatic DTC patients at three institutes were retrospe...

In conclusion, our WGCNA analysis identified candidate prognostic biomarkers for further basic and clinical researches. Introduction Breast cancer is a frequently diagnosed malignancy and the leading cause of cancer death among females around the world, accounting for 24% of cancer diagnoses and 15% of cancer deaths in females. According to Global Cancer Statistics 2018, there will be nearly 2.1 million new cases diagnosed globally, with ~62 thousand deaths. The incident rates of breast cancer increased in most developing countries during last decades, resulting from a combination of social and economic factors, incl...

Thus, understanding and targeting this process is an unmet need. Crucial steps during the establishment of metastases include the (pre)metastatic niche formation. This process relies on the interaction of th...
