Brainlab's software system that tracks surgical tools and displays the patient's body to guide spinal surgeons has been recalled after its malfunctions led to patient deaths, the FDA says.

The objective of this work is to introduce a nanocomposite based bioanode for biofuel cell application. The as-prepared Kraton/MWCNTs nanocomposite was used as a current enhancer and ferritin (Frt) as a mediator between glucose oxidase (GOx) and the electrode surface. The hybrid anode achieved enzymatic oxidation of glucose by the nanocomposite reflecting an efficient energy conversion from glucose. In this study, we examined the effects of diphenyleneiodonium chloride (DPIC), an inhibitor of the superoxide producing enzyme NADPH oxidase, against fungal and bacterial plant pathogens. We found that DPIC inhibits fungal spore germination and bacterial cell proliferation. In addition, we demonstrated the potent antibacterial activity of DPIC using rice heads infected with the bacterial pathogen Burkholderia glumae which causes bacterial panicle blight (BPB). In this study, we collected 55 isolates from pear scab lesions in 13 major cultivation areas in Korea and examined the diversity using sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, β-tubulin (TUB2), and translation elongation factor-1α (TEF-1α) genes as molecular markers. In this study, several specimens belonging to Candelariella were collected from China and South Korea, and the internal transcribed spacer region was generated to confirm the system position of the newly collected specimens. Combined with a morphological examination and phylogenetic analysis, two new areolate species, Candelariella rubrisoli and C. subsquamulosa, are new to science. In this study, therefore, we examined the effects of oral gavage of CAP on core body and tail surface temperature, locomotor activity, and Fos expression in thermoregulation- and sensory information-associated hypothalamic and medullary brain regions using freely moving mice.
