Conclusion: This case of thyroid bed PG supports the idea that PG reflects a cutaneous phenotype encompassed in the spectrum of systemic neutrophilic diseases. Endocrinologists should be aware that thyroid bed PG involvement is an albeit rare differential diagnosis to consider in patients who had undergone thyroid surgery, especially with a history of PG. Introduction Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the main variant of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), is the most common thyroid cancer, accounting for 70–80% of all thyroid carcinomas and occurring predominantly in women, generally with a good prognos...

In conclusion, we reported a CIAD case with two novel mutations that presented with recurrent seizures and hypoglycemia. When an infant shows recurrent hypoglycemia, with seizures and low plasma levels of ACTH and cortisol, CIAD should be take into consideration, even if the patient has other hormonal abnormalities. Genetic analysis is a powerful tool to confirm the diagnosis, which helped us to identify two novel mutations in our patient. In addition, the lack of an obvious circadian rhythm of ACTH and cortisol before treatment may be a specific characteristic of this disease. Ethics Statement This study was carried out...

In this study, we evaluated whether the combination of focused ultrasound (FUS) and microbubbles can improve adoptively NK-92MI cell infiltration into ovarian tumors through biodistribution, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry. The treatment effects of using this strategy twice a week were explored. The potential molecular mechanism of FUS assisting NK cell therapy was also initially explored through evaluating the expression of ICAM1 and CX3CL1 by qRT-PCR. Our results indicated that FUS and microbubbles can improve NK-92MI cells’ infiltration into tumors, and the combination of FUS and NK-92MI cells had a better ...

This study introduces a technique to perform non-invasive volumetric elastography in vivo. Three-dimensional ultrasound data of carotid artery bifurcations were acquired in four asymptomatic individuals using an electrocardiogram-triggered multislice acquisition device that scanned over a length of 35 mm (350 slices) using a linear transducer (L11-3, fc  = 9 MHz).

This study investigates the reliability of the ultrasound scan as a diagnostic tool to quantify a clinically useful threshold in the level of periprosthetic fluid collection to suggest implant revision.MethodsThis study includes 116 patients (123 implants) who received an Articular Surface Replacement XL (ASRTMXL, De Puy Synthes, USA) MoM THA. The study group included 56 males and 60 females with a mean age of 66.6 years (range, 15–86 years). All patients were clinically and radiologically annually evaluated (according to the Harris Hip Score) up to a mean follow-up of 7.5 years (min. 1.4 – max. 10.3 years) fro...

ConclusionUltrasound shows potential as a tool in diagnosis of paediatric fractures but may be limited in fractures around metaphyseal bone. Due to the ability to detect callus formation much earlier, ultrasonography may be very useful in monitoring of fracture healing.

In conclusion, our results suggest that the addition of BFR to exercise contributes to neuromuscular adaptations only when RT is performed with low-load. Furthermore, we found a significant association between the changes in [HHb] (i.e., metabolic stress) and increases in muscle CSA from T2 to T3 only for the LL-BFR, when muscle edema was attenuated. Introduction Resistance training- (RT) induced changes in muscle strength are partially due to increases in muscle cross-sectional area (CSA) (i.e., muscle hypertrophy) and changes in muscle architecture (e.g., increase in the pennation angle of muscle fibers) (Aagaard...
