Supraclavicular block could be a safe and effective alternative. Our primary objective was to assess the incidence of hemidiaphragmatic paralysis following ultrasound-guided supraclavi...
We present a case of ectopic insertion of the whole tendon of the pectoralis minor muscle associated with impingement syndrome. Based on this case, we performed a review of the literature focused on the association between this ectopic tendon insertion and anterior shoulder pain.
Can any of you point me in the direction of what is considered the best technique publication or video for ultrasound guided stellate ganglion block? Thanks!
A 24-year-old male presented to the emergency department with a purpuric rash that started a week prior on the arms, trunk, and legs, along with acute onset testicular pain radiating to the lower abdomen. Ultrasound performed during that ED visit showed bilateral testicular solid masses, hypovascular or avascular, a nd a hypervascular left testicle and epididymis (Figure 1). Differential based on ultrasound findings included: testicular carcinoma, granulomatous epididymoorchitis such as sarcoidosis or tuberculosis, adrenal rests, lymphoma, or metastases.
We present the case of a pregnant woman admitted for sudden and severe abdominal pain at 34 weeks gestation. Her previous medical history included endometriosis suspected by clinical symptoms and ultrasound. During cesarean section, performed by sustained fetal bradycardia, a large volume hemoperitoneum and multiple hemorrhagic foci in the posterior uterine wall were detected. Although rare, spontaneous hemoperitoneum may occur in pregnancy, especially in women with endometriosis. Thus, a prompt suspicion and expedite intervention are needed to improve maternal and fetal outcomes. PMID: 31703187 [PubMed - in process]
Authors: Pramono LA, Yuwono A Abstract Congenital hypothyroidism is the most treatable cause of mental retardation. It is also the most prevalent congenital endocrine disorder in childhood. A dramatic improvement can be made by early detection, diagnosis, and adequate treatment of levothyroxine in patients with congenital hypothyroidism. Severe cognitive impairment is associated with persistent disease in patients who have delayed or no treatment at all. In a modern era with complete healthcare facilities in a big city like Jakarta, the prevalence late-diagnosed congenital hypothyroidism is supposed to be very low....
CONCLUSION: Pain relief during SWL operations is still a challenging issue for many clinicians. Our study demonstrates that, among many other anesthetic/analgesic agents and techniques described, unilateral US guided TAP block and diclofenac combination is a feasible option for pain relief during SWL procedures. Conclusions: Ultrasound-guided percutaneous cryoneurolysis is a modality that has the potential to provide analgesia matching the duration of pain following rib fractures. PMID: 31684715 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Prediction of Adnexal Torsion by Ultrasound in Women with Acute Abdominal Pain. Ultraschall Med. 2019 Nov 08;: Authors: Bardin R, Perl N, Mashiach R, Ram E, Orbach-Zinger S, Shmueli A, Wiznitzer A, Hadar E Abstract PURPOSE: To investigate the accuracy of ultrasound in the diagnosis of adnexal torsion. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective cohort analysis of 322 women, presenting to a tertiary medical center with acute abdominal pain, who underwent gynecological examination, sonographic evaluation and laparoscopic surgery, between 2010 and 2016. Findings for adnexal torsi...
ConclusionsThe prevalence of AHF protocols is rather high but the contents seem to vary. Difficulty of diagnosing suspected AHF seems to be moderate compared with other pre ‐hospital conditions.
