Rapid Risk Assessment: Zika Virus Transmission Worldwide

This 21-page rapid risk assessment addresses the evolution of the Zika virus disease epidemic since 2016. It was triggered by the recent update of World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for the prevention of sexual transmission of Zika virus, recent identification of three Zika travel-associated cases in travelers from Denmark and Norway returning from Thailand, and case of sexual transmission from one returning traveler. The report assesses the risk for European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) travelers, risk for pregnant women, risk related to sexual transmission, risk related to substances of human origin, and risk of importation into the EU/EEA.
