DiscussionAs detailed above, the “elements” in both a classical and a contemporary sense have effects on our mental health and are potentially modifiable aspects that can be harnessed as therapeutic interventions. The most robust interventional evidence currently available shows tentative support for several use of the elements via horticultural and nature-exposure therapy, green exercise/physical activity, sauna and heat therapy, balneotherapy, and breathing exercises. It should be noted that, in many cases, these interventions were not studied in definitive diagnosed psychiatric disorders and thus it is prema...

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by chronic widespread pain, abnormal pain processing, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and often psychological distress with a global mean prevalence of 2.7%. The prevalence and characteristics of chronic itch in fibromyalgia has not been extensively studied, but a previous study determined chronic itch to be present in 3.3% patients. We administered a cross-sectional survey on chronic itch and pain to obtain information on fibromyalgia patients seen at the Rheumatology Clinic of Riddle Memorial Hospital from 2016 to 2018.

AbstractTramadol —an atypical opioid analgesic—has a unique pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile, with opioidergic, noradrenergic, and serotonergic actions. Tramadol has long been used as a well-tolerated alternative to other drugs in moderate pain because of its opioidergic and monoaminergic activities. However, cumulative evidence has been gathered over the last few years that supports other likely mechanisms and uses of tramadol in pain management. Tramadol has modulatory effects on several mediators involved in pain signaling, such as voltage-gated sodium ion channels, transient receptor potenti al V...

They found that women practicing Tai Chi/yoga (20 min per week for 12 weeks) had lower depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbance scores compared to a waitlist control group (Table 1). This study had a large sample size and provided ...
