Length of Catheter Use After Hysterectomy as a Risk Factor for Urinary Tract Infection

(Abstracted from Female Pelvic Med Reconstr Surg 2018;24:430–434) A known risk factor for urinary tract infection (UTI) is placement of an indwelling Foley catheter at the time of hysterectomy. To reduce catheter-associated UTI, it is recommended that catheters be removed as soon as possible after surgery.
