Conclusion The Main Challenges of Co-construction As previously mentioned, MONBUZZ.ca development has followed a co-construction approach involving stakeholders in the field of addiction and sexual health. This allowed us to have the perspective of researchers, addiction counselors and potential users. However, this approach entailed some challenges. Although the goals pursued by academic researchers and community researchers were the same, the visions of the length of the online intervention and its data collection tools could sometimes differ. There has been some negotiation regarding community needs and the need for rigorous clinical and scientific intervention. For example, some community stakeholders and potential users wanted to modify data collection tools to make them shorter and more adapted to the local context. However, for academic researchers, it was essential to use validated tools, which made any modification difficult. In this sense, several discussions were held to evaluate the pros and cons of each position and to decide what was the most appropriate for the project implementation phase. These discussions were inspired by debates about the development of HIV interventions for MSM, described by Otis (50). The members of the development committee wanted MONBUZZ.ca to be easy to navigate and attractive to users.
