Conclusions: Elevated baseline plasma interleukin-18 was associated with higher mortality in sepsis-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome. A rise in plasma interleukin-18 was also associated with increased mortality and was more common in subjects randomized to statin therapy in this clinical trial.

ConclusionsSeveral existing and newer drug treatments reduce ASCVD risk through LDL cholesterol and/or triglyceride reduction in patients with diabetes. Novel approaches using antisense oligonucleotides and monoclonal antibodies may provide potential future therapies for diabetic dyslipidemia.

Guidelines recommend high-intensity statins for patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Subgroups with comorbidities that increase cardiovascular risk, such as diabetes mellitus (DM), chronic kidney disease (CKD) or polyvascular disease (PoVD), may derive greater absolute benefit from addition of non-statin therapies. We assessed the relationship between lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) risk reduction during alirocumab phase III ODYSSEY trials among these subgroups.

ConclusionThe present study showed a high prescription rate of guideline-recommended medications in a referral center for primary percutaneous coronary intervention. At discharge, women and co-morbid patients were at the highest risk of incomplete prescription of guideline medications, whereas long-term prescription was suboptimal for elderly.
