New PET imaging biomarker could better predict progression of Alzheimer's disease

(Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging) Researchers have discovered a way to better predict progression of Alzheimer's disease. A study utilizing positron emission tomography to image microglial activation levels showed that these levels could predict current and future cognitive performance better than beta-amyloid levels.
