Conclusions: ALBI outperforms CP in survival prognosis in Y90 treated patients. On sub-analyses, serum albumin (not bilirubin) appears to be the main driver of survival prediction. Our study supports the prognostic ability of ALBI and may suggest a role of albumin alone as a biomarker for patients with HCC.

CONCLUSIONS: Patients with PSC show significantly higher than average risk for the development of hepatobiliary and colonic malignancies including cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder carcinoma and colorectal carcinoma. Yearly ultrasound surveillance followed with more definitive cross sectional imaging is prudent to arrive in a timely diagnosis of carcinoma, reducing morbidity and mortality. GEO2R tool and edgeR package in R/Bioconductor were used to screen out HCC-related miRNAs. VennDiagram package was us...

ConclusionsC-arm CT–guided chemoembolization may help to detect and treat recurrent tumors in patients who have shown CR after previous chemoembolization but subsequently, during follow-up surveillance, had serum AFP levels> 20 ng/mL without an overt tumor evident on imaging studies.

Objectives: Most localized hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients are not surgically operable or transplantation candidates, increasing the role for nonsurgical therapies. Ablative external beam radiotherapy (XRT) and transarterial radioembolization (TARE) are emerging radiotherapeutic treatments for localized HCC. We sought to evaluate their utilization and efficacy in a large nationwide cohort. Materials and Methods: We conducted an observational study of 2685 patients from the National Cancer Database (NCDB) diagnosed with American Joint Committee on Cancer 7th edition clinical stage I to III HCC between 2004 and ...

Authors: Ye M, Zhu X, Yan R, Hui J, Zhang J, Liu Y, Li X Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide, characterized by a high degree of malignancy, a poor prognosis, and chemotherapy resistance. The anticancer activities of cantharidin and its derivatives have been widely reported. Sodium demethylcantharidate is a derivative of cantharidin that shows excellent anticancer activity against multiple types of cancer, including HCC. However, its mechanism of action remains unclear. We evaluated the anticancer activities of sodium demethylcantharidate in SMMC-7721 and Bel-...
