Manganese-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in the whole visual pathway: chemical identification and neurotoxic changes.

CONCLUSION: Our study indicated that MEMRI with TSMIP after injection of 200 nmol MnCl2 can best show the entire and 3D visual pathway in the rat with less neurotoxic changes. Additionally, chemical identification is useful for the confirmation of the specificity of MEMRI. PMID: 30922072 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Recently, the beneficial role of selective ERβ activation in the regulation of metabolic homeostasis in obesity has been demonstrated, but its importance is still controversial. However, no data are available regarding possible gender differences in re...

Authors: Ji X, Zhou S, Yang P, Liu F, Li Y, Li H Abstract Ultrasound (US) combined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHCC) and recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (RHCC) were compared. The clinical data of 329 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) admitted to Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital from June 2015 to December 2017 were collected. One hundred and sixty patients with PHCC were regarded as the PHCC group, and the other 169 patients with RHCC were regarded as the RHCC group. US and MRI were used in the imaging diagnosis of both groups and the...

In conclusion, the histopathological presence of Homer-Wright rosettes and immunohistochemical markers such as CD99, FLI-1 and CK are valuable factors for the diagnosis of ES, although cytogenetic analysis is considered the gold standard. Complete surgery is the most effective treatment option for ES treatment. Adjuvant radiotherapy and combination chemotherapy can also improve the survival rate of patients postoperatively. Conclusions: Positive MARS-MRI can often occur in the absence of elevated metal ion levels; elevated blood metal ion levels do not mean MARS-MRI will be positive. All patients with MoM replacements were at risk. It is imperative to assess patients regularly for symptoms that may raise clinical suspicion and maintain a low threshold to performing MARS-MRI. CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest gender differences in vulnerability to later alcohol use, specifically in terms of how a neurobiological susceptibility to risk insensitivity may disproportionately influence male adolescents' externalizing symptomatology. Male adolescents who do not effectively integrate risk-related signals are likely to engage in externalizing behaviors, which in turn are related to later alcohol use. Findings also suggest differential roles of risk-related brain function that contribute to gendered pathways to adolescent health-risk behaviors. PMID: 31790350 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that delayed structural maturation of the NAcc may be a risk factor for alcohol use in adolescence; however, the mechanism by which the structure of the NAcc confers risk differs by sex. PMID: 31790349 [PubMed - in process]

This study demonstrates that body part-specific somatosensory imagery differentially activates somatosensory cortex in a topographically specific manner; evidence which was surprisingly still lacking in the literature. It also offers proof of concept for a novel somatosensory imagery-based fMRI-BCI control strategy, with particularly high potential for visually and motor-impaired patients. The strategy could also be transferred to lower MRI field strengths and to mobile functional near-infrared spectroscopy. Finally, given that communication BCIs provide the BCI user with a form of feedback based on their brain signals and...
