Alport Patients without Classic Ocular Symptoms Have Smaller Lens Diameter.

CONCLUSIONS Alport syndrome patients without classical ophthalmological findings have smaller crystalline lens diameter and lower lens power. These signs may support the diagnosis of Alport syndrome. Ophthalmologists should not only seek for the known classic signs, but also the parameters of the crystalline lens, especially if genetic testing is not available. ConclusionsAn inexpensive reusable non-commercial LP simulator can be an effective method for teaching invasive procedures like LPs, especially if it can be used both for palpation and US-guided procedures. The method outlined here can be easily reproduced in a relatively short amount of time. We recognize one limitation in the widespread dissemination of this technique being access to a 3D printer and digital designs for printing. Future studies will be necessary to determine the efficacy of the homemade LP simulator in teaching neurointensivist in training.

Here, by using an amphiphilic derivative of hyaluronic acid as a starting macromolecule, nanohydrogels loaded with Imatinib were produced by the microfluidic procedure in order to develop an innovative therapeutic tool for the treatment of retinal neovascularization....

Authors: Sari A, Eroglu A Abstract BACKGROUND: Injections is a good alternative to conventional treatment-resistant cases with rotator cuff (RC) lesions before operation. Currently, different injection methods are used in RC lesions. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of different injection methods (platelet-rich plasma [PRP], corticosteroid [COR] and prolotherapy [PRO]) in RC tendon lesions. METHODS: One hundred and twenty-nine patients were divided into 4 groups as PRP, COR, PRO and the lidocaine group. Subacromial injection was applied to all groups. They were evaluated using the Visual Analogue Scale (...

Conclusions: Leptospiral uveitis patient serum contains antibodies that cross-react with multiple lens proteins that have a role in maintaining lens transparency. And, these antibodies could act as a potential trigger for cataractogenesis. PMID: 31746662 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
