Association of Race and Poverty With Mortality Among Nursing Home Residents on Maintenance Dialysis
We examined whether race/ethnicity, ZIP code –level, and individual-level indicators of poverty relate to mortality of NH residents on dialysis.
Conclusion: In PD patients, expression of peritoneal TJ proteins can be estimated from the dialysis effluent and may be used as novel peritoneal biomarkers. PMID: 31724477 [PubMed - in process]
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with PAD, OS was largely defined by comorbidities but not by lesion location. The background risk factors, underlying comorbidities, and event rates were different according to PAD location, suggesting that stratified treatment should be established for different patient populations. ConclusionsHemodialysis patients with central obesity, as measured by the A/G ratio, had less favorable plasma lipid profiles and higher levels of inflammation but not an increased risk of ASCVD.
CONCLUSIONS: This model demonstrated favorable short- and long-term clinical benefits associated with the use of ERC in patients with CKD Stage 3 and 4 with SHPT and VDI, suggesting ERC may be cost-effective from the Medicare perspective compared to paricalcitol. This study aims to analyze the prevalence and to concentrate on the key risk factors that are responsible for hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in patients on HD visiting two dialysis centers in the city of Quetta in southwestern Pakistan. The overall incidence of HBV was found to be 16.1%, the overall incidence of HCV was found to be 43.2%, and two patients (1.6%) were found to be positive for both HBV and HCV. HIV was not found among patients seen at both hospitals during the study period. The main risk factors for development of a viral infection were the ...
Few patients who begin emergency dialysis make an early transition to home care, but those who do tend to start the procedure in a center that has programs to support the move, new research suggests.Reuters Health Information
ConclusionsSingle administration or multiple administration does not affect SC and CLCVVH. Owing to therapeutic vancomycin levels is difficult to maintain in severe pneumonia patients who are receiving IV vancomycin therapy while on CVVH, close monitoring of serum trough concentrations is required.

Malnutrition, depression-related eating behavior changes, high on-off-dialysis day-to-day glycemic variability and frequent hypoglycemic events occurring during or immediately after dialy...

CONCLUSION: Over time on dialysis, use of non-CPB increased and medication costs increased accordingly. Many patients continued to change drugs between CPBs and non-CPBs due to the restricted criteria of the health insurance. Further outcome research is necessary to evaluate the appropriateness of the clinical practice in which CPBs and non-CPBs are alternately used. . PMID: 31724531 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
