Introduction

In addition to coronary and peripheral artery diseases, aortic diseases contribute to the wide spectrum of arterial diseases with entities such as chronic aortic aneurysms or acute aortic syndromes and dissections. The main goal of their surgical treatment must address the problem of restoring the normal dimension of the ascending aorta through the resection of the diseased aorta and the implantation of a prosthetic graft. The diseases involving the aortic root are commonly treated using the techniques described by Bentall and De Bono or David and Feindel.
