Conclusions: The constantly increasing prevalence of NAFLD in the general population can contribute to a growing role of NAFLD/NASH in HCC epidemiology. Moreover, some particular challenges specific for patients with liver steatosis may impede proper HCC diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. PMID: 31631714 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Authors: Beylacq L, Baer E, Choquet O, Dupre HL, Capdevila X Abstract BACKGROUND: Ultrasound-guided axillary block is widely used in daily practice for upper limb orthopedic surgery. A simple, safe, efficacious and time-saving technique is mandatory to optimize surgical turnover and costs. In this perspective, we compared, in a randomized, single-blinded study, a standardized perifascial technique and the selective perineural technique. METHODS: Forty-two patients scheduled for elective hand surgery were randomly assigned to receive 20 ml of 10 mg/mL mepivacaïne, either selectively around each of the radia...
We report our experience in conservative management of patients with prenatal and neonatal diagnosis of severe bilateral ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO), focusing on the actual predictors of renal function impairment or spontaneous resolution. Between 1996 and 2006, 20 patients with bilateral severe hydronephrosis related to UPJO were included in the study. Indications for surgery were an increased hydronephrosis, decreased renal function, onset of symptoms. Conservatively treated patients were followed up for 3 months to 10 years with renal ultrasound, DTPA diuretic, urine culture. At first renal scan, 22 out of...
Authors: special issue: “Focus on pediatric nephrology”, Stroscio G, Impollonia D, Arrigo T, Sallemi A, Di Benedetto V, Scuderi MG, Fusco M, Concolino D, Falsaperla M, Betta P, Chimenz R Abstract The purpose of this article is to review the main congenital anomalies of kidneys and urinary tract that can be diagnosed prenatally and postnatally by imaging technique. The incidence of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract during the past decade has been estimated to be 0.4 to 4.0 cases per 1000 births. Congenital kidney disease can evolve in chronic disease in childhood and in adulthood. A di...
This study aimed to investigate effects of microbubble-enhanced ultrasound (MEUS) combined with prothrombin on microwave ablation (MWA) on VX2 liver tumors in a rabbit model. METHODS: 80 rabbits with VX2 liver tumors were randomly divided into Group A (sham + NS), Group B (sham + NS + P), Group C (MEUS), and Group D (PMEUS). After treatment, targeted liver tumors were ablated with MWA. On 0, 3, 7 and 14 d, volume of coagulated area was measured. Tissues in ablated area, transition area and surrounding area were collected. RESULTS: On 0, 3, 7 and 14 d, coagulated volume in Group D was larger than remaining three groups (P

ConclusionThe PCS is associated with an increase in the incidence and severity of the CVD symptoms.
CONCLUSION: In these rare cases, clinical examination of hip rotation in 90° hip flexion has proved helpful and further interdisciplinary examination of such infants to distinguish a possible underlying primary condition is recommended. PMID: 31634952 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
