Changing Epidemiology of Liver Involvement in Children With Celiac Disease

Conclusions: Liver involvement in celiac children is now less frequent than previously reported, possibly due to changing CD epidemiology. Younger age is the only risk factor. Associated autoimmune liver disease is rare.

ConclusionCD is common in PHT of different etiology especially in cCLD, NCPH and Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), however etiological basis for this association is still to be defined. The likelihood of CD is higher in liver disease as compared to general population and these patients should be screened for CD.

Conclusion All AILD children should be screened for CEAIDs as the majority are asymptomatic. The AILD outcome was favorable in CD, but poor in vitiligo and AIHA. We suggest the incorporation of CEAIDs in a pediatric AILD scoring system.
