Authors: Ito A, Ishiguro T, Takaku Y, Kagiyama N, Kamei K, Takayanagi N Abstract A 42-year-old man with asthma presented in 2007 with chest infiltration and productive cough. Pycnoporus sanguineus and Perenniporia tephropora were repeatedly isolated from sputum and bronchial washing fluids. Because we lacked immunologic evidence, we could not diagnose him with allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis (ABPM) due to these basidiomycetous fungi. At that time, serum-specific IgE and IgG against Schizophyllum commune findings were negative. Inhaled beclomethasone/salmeterol improved his condition. Seven years later, mucous plu...

Precise medical imaging and analysis could enable early detection of lung cancer, help determine its exact size and location, and significantly improve diagnosis and treatment. This is usually done in a process called segmentation, which uses computers to identify the boundaries of the lung from surrounding thoracic tissue on CT images. From this process, a detailed 3-D map of the airways may be generated that can help to plan and navigate a bronchoscopy procedure to obtain biopsy samples and to perform other clinical interventions. “Until now, t...

Conclusion: Even with the most stringent criteria for lung assessment, nearly one-third of the brain-dead participants had lungs suitable for lung transplantation. Lack of eligible lung donors is not a reason for the poor lung transplantation rates in India.

We report two cases of erratic coil migration from the bronchial artery to the bronchus after bronchial artery embolization (BAE). Coil migration to the bronchus is an infrequent late ‐stage complication of super‐selective bronchial artery coil embolization, and only one other case has been reported. We propose treatment strategies and speculate on the mechanism of fistula formation. Herein, we report two cases of erratic coil migration from the bronchial artery to the bronchus after bronchial artery embolization (BAE). Neither patient exhibited haemoptysis recurrence, but chest radiographs revealed that part of the co...

This report highlights the usefulness of bronchoscopy in case of recurrent pneumonia with the same localization even in CF patients where the presence of bronchiectasis as promoting factor of infections could delay the diagnosis. We report a surgical case of a solitary pulmonary metastasis in which the lesion grew from a cyst into a nodular lesion within the cyst with time. An 82 ‐year‐old male, who had undergone sigmoid colon cancer surgery (at the age of 78 years) and primary lung cancer surgery (at the age of 81 years), was found to have a cavitating lesion in the left lower lobe on chest computed tomography (CT). A chest CT that had been performed just before the primary lung cancer surgery revealed a small thin‐walled cyst at the same site at which the cavity was detected in the current CT. Bronchoscopic examination reveale...

AbstractIntroductionElectromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) ‐guided pleural dye marking is useful to localize small peripheral pulmonary nodules for sublobar resection.ObjectiveTo report findings on the use of ENB ‐guided dye marking among participants in the NAVIGATE study.MethodsNAVIGATE is a prospective, multicenter, global, observational cohort study of ENB use in patients with lung lesions. The current subgroup report is a prespecified 1 ‐month interim analysis of ENB‐guided pleural dye marking in the NAVIGATE United States cohort.ResultsThe full United States cohort includes 1,215 subjects from 29 sites...
