Improving the moisture resistance and luminescent properties of K2TiF6:Mn4+ by coating with CaF2

Publication date: Available online 23 March 2019Source: Materials Research BulletinAuthor(s): Qizheng Dong, Chengjin Guo, Ling He, Xuefeng Lu, Jianbo YinAbstractThe moisture resistance and luminescent properties of K2TiF6:Mn4+ (KTF) phosphor was enhanced through a facile coating method to modify its surface, in which CaF2 was used as a coating material. The structure, morphology, and composition of the KTF@CaF2 samples were investigated via power X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The luminescence properties were identified by luminescence spectra. The results show that, after being treated with CaF2, the surface morphology changed to some extent, and the luminous intensity of phosphor was enhanced. Through application of a moisture resistance test, the luminous intensity of KTF@CaF2 phosphor was maintained, whereas the KTF was hydrolysed and the luminous intensity decreased. This was ascribed to local distortion of the crystalline field around Mn4+ in phosphors and the improvement of surface moisture resistance of phosphors after coating with CaF2.Graphic abstract

In this study, the stress rupture behavior of a Ni-based directionally solidified (DS) superalloy affected by initial elastic-plastic multiaxial stress state at 850 °C has been investigated. Smooth and three types of U-shape notched plate specimens have been adopted. The notch effect on stress rupture lives is exhibited as notch softening, and there is a positive correlation between the degree of notch softening and theoretical stress concentration factor. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation is conducted to reveal failure mechanism. For both smooth and notched specimens, thickness dependence on crack initi...

The effect of 10–40 mass% SrAl12O19 on the microstructure, physical and mechanical properties of the SrAl12O19/ZTA composite were addressed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to determine the role of the SrAl12O19 content on the phase composition and microstructure. The addition of SrAl12O19 to zirconia...

In this work, a 3D sulfide intercalated NiFe-layered double hydroxide (NFL-S) hierarchical sorbent has been synthesized for selective heavy metal removal. The intercalation of sulfurated groups in the interlayer of the layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets endows NFL-S as a selective heavy metal ion ...

The approach is based on multi-task deep neural networks that perform automatic detection of the anterior commissures (AC) and posterior commissures (PC) in the sagittal images, and automatic determination of the symmetry line in the axial images. The proposed multi-task learning architecture solves the tasks of point and angle detection simultaneously by ex...

AbstractBackgroundDiffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI-DWI) is the modality of choice for detecting intracranial abscesses; however, it is unclear whether prior brain surgery has an influence on its diagnostic value. Thus, we assessed the robustness of MRI-DWI and determination of an ADC cutoff value for detecting intracranial abscesses in patients who underwent brain surgery.MethodsWe retrospectively evaluated 19 patients prior to surgery for postoperative supratentorial parenchymal abscesses by means of MRI-DWI. Forty randomly selected patients with routine postoperative MRI-DWI were used for comparative an...

In this study, different microscopy techniques were combined to explain the differences of rheological and thermal properties between rice kernel and its flour even though they had the same compositions. The area and positions of the endothermic peaks of starch, flour, and kernel were different. The uneven distribution of starch granules and part of the protein bodies were observed by a scanning electron microscope. The regional distribution and spatial structure of starch granules and cell walls showed the restriction effect of kernel structure of rice. The clear fluorescence by a confocal laser scanning microscope showed...
