Juggling work and unpaid care: a growing issue

This report recognises the issue of caring, unpaid, for older and disabled relatives both in the UK and throughout the world. From the 2011 census they found that around three million people juggle work whilst caring for an older, disabled or ill person, unpaid, out of a working age population of around 4.3 million people - roughly one in nine workers. This can directly impact on productivity in the workplace unless measures such as flexible working are put into place. This new report looks at how the world of work needs to change and adapt to reflect this new level of caring responsibility, and also the consequences if it does not.
