Depressed-type adenoma in the colon is associated with advanced pathologic changes

A 79-year-old man who presented with no symptoms came for a follow-up colonoscopy a year after a previous polypectomy for several colonic polyps. The colonoscopy showed a small, superficial depressed-type polyp, defined as 0-IIc in the Paris classification, in the transverse colon (A). With chromoendoscopy using indigo carmine, and also with narrow-band imaging (NBI), depressed morphology of the polyp became clearer, and irregular pits smaller than those seen in surrounding mucosa (type IIIs in Kudo classification) were observed inside the depressive part (B, C).
