Wound healing potential of selected Southern African medicinal plants: a review

ConclusionsEmpirical evidence has shown that these components also facilitate wound healing through increased wound contraction, reepithelialisation and collagen synthesis. To help close the knowledge gap, the authors are actively studying the mechanisms and composition of a selection of plants that are frequently used to promote wound healing in the region.
