Successful management of severe post-LASIK Mycobacterium abscessus keratitis with topical amikacin and linezolid, flap ablation, and topical corticosteroids
This is a case report of post-laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium abscessus keratitis managed with combined topical amikacin and linezolid, flap amputation and corticosteroids. A 34-year-old female presented a corneal interface infiltrate three weeks following LASIK. Cultures isolated mycobacteria. The infiltrate did not improve under intensive topical therapy and interface irrigation with empiric antibiotics over five weeks, and progressed to severe inflammation and stromal neovascularization.
