Frameless Fractionated Gamma Knife Radiosurgery with ICON ™ for Large Metastatic Brain Tumors.

Conclusion: Daily FF GKRS by gamma knife ICON™ revealed satisfactory tumor control rate and low morbidity, despite the short follow-up period. Further prospective studies and a longer follow-up of a large cohort of patients diagnosed with brain metastases are required to elucidate the effect of FF GKRS in brain metastases. They are the most common primary brain tumor and account for nearly one-third of all primary brain and spine tumors. Meningiomas can arise from any dural site, however they are infrequently found at the cerebellopontine angle (CPA). While WHO grade I meningiomas are benign and the slowest growing, WHO grade II meningiomas grow significantly faster, d...

CONCLUSIONS: Our studies demonstrated that GLO1 was highly expressed in glioma tissues and significantly correlated with the poor prognosis of glioma patients. It indicated that GLO1 might serve as a new prognostic predictor and therapeutic target for glioma treatment. PMID: 31738028 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Tumor-associated myeloid cells (TAMCs) are key drivers of immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment, which profoundly impedes the clinical response to immune-dependent and conventional therapeutic modalities. As a hallmark of glioblastoma (GBM), TAMCs are massively recruited to reach up to 50% of the brain tumor mass. Therefore, they have recently been...

Authors: Philbrick B, Adamson DC Abstract INTRODUCTION: High grade gliomas (HGG) are extremely aggressive brain malignancies that are usually fatal. Despite maximal resection, chemotherapy and radiation, these tumors inevitably recur and present a poor median overall survival (mOS); hence there is a pressing need for improved treatments.Areas covered:This review assesses DNX-2401 as a treatment of recurrent HGG. Phase I data on efficacy, safety, and tolerability are examined while insights and perspectives on future directions are offered.Expert opinion:This phase I study assessed DNX-2401 in two groups; one group ...

Ependymomas are neuroepithelial tumors that differentiate along the ependymal cell lineage, a lining of the ventricles of the brain and the central canal of the spinal cord. They represent ∼1% of primary CNS tumors in adults, but ∼9% of brain tumors in children [1, 2]. The standard treatment regimen consists of surgical resection and/or adjuvant radiotherapy. No targeted chemotherapies have been devised, and tumor classification and grading remain challenging, even in the genomic era [3].

This study suggests that the interplay between sialic acids and Siglecs is a sensitive immune checkpoint axis and may be crucial for Dex-induced dampening of antitumor immunity. The targeting of sialic acid-Siglec glyco-immune checkpoint can be a novel therapeutic method in glioma th erapy.

Conclusion: The positive and negative points of the image-based cell models and computergenerated cell models some scientific advices are presented in this work. Generally, the imagebased cell models could offer analytical facts for each state, but they are expensive and timeconsuming; besides, their performance is heavily influenced by deformation techniques. The computer-generated cell model, on the other hand, provides a higher cost of production and simplicity, but its main contribution is the overall performance and accuracy.
