Viruses, Vol. 11, Pages 210: Bat Coronaviruses in China Viruses doi: 10.3390/v11030210 Authors: Yi Fan Kai Zhao Zheng-Li Shi Peng Zhou During the past two decades, three zoonotic coronaviruses have been identified as the cause of large-scale disease outbreaks–Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and Swine Acute Diarrhea Syndrome (SADS). SARS and MERS emerged in 2003 and 2012, respectively, and caused a worldwide pandemic that claimed thousands of human lives, while SADS struck the swine industry in 2017. They have common characteristics, such as they are all highly pathogenic to humans or livestock, their agents originated from bats, and two of them originated in China. Thus, it is highly likely that future SARS- or MERS-like coronavirus outbreaks will originate from bats, and there is an increased probability that this will occur in China. Therefore, the investigation of bat coronaviruses becomes an urgent issue for the detection of early warning signs, which in turn minimizes the impact of such future outbreaks in China. The purpose of the review is to summarize the current knowledge on viral diversity, reservoir hosts, and the geographical distributions of bat coronaviruses in China, and eventually we aim to predict virus hotspots and their cross-species transmission potential.

This study examined relations among parents' involvement in students' mathematics homework, mathematics teachers' homework involvement in students' homework, students' mathematics homework disaffection and mathematics achievement outcomes in east-central China using multilevel structural equation modeling where students were treated as the within level and class was treated as the between level. A total of 6100 7th and 8th grader, their parents and 220 mathematics teachers from the Investigation of Curriculum and Instruction in China participated in the study. The results showed that parent homework involvement had a negat...

CONCLUSIONS This was the first study to demonstrate an association between UNC13B gene polymorphisms and the susceptibility to DKD in a Chinese Han population with T2DM. The haplotype GGCCG was significantly associated with an increased risk of DKD. The findings highlight the joint effect of SNP markers in the pathogenesis of DKD. PMID: 31713534 [PubMed - in process]

This study included 227 patients with type 2 diabetes who were admitted to the Department of Nephrology of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital from May 2016 to January 2018 and underwent pathological diagnosis by renal biopsy. Anti-PLA2R antibodies were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in this population. According to the pathological results, the participants were divided into an IMN group and non-membranous nephropathy (non-MN) group. The clinical characteristics were analyzed, the diagnostic ability of anti-PLA2R antibodies was evaluated, and the receiver operating characteristic (RO...

AbstractA cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the seroprevalence ofBrucella spp. andLeptospira spp. and risk factors of exposure in cattle in three zones with varying land use types and wildlife –livestock interactions. Five villages were selected purposively; two in areas with intensive livestock–wildlife interactions (zone 1), another two in areas with moderate livestock–wildlife interactions (zone 2) and one in areas where wildlife–livestock interactions are rarer (zone 3). Sera samples were collected from 1170 cattle belonging to 390 herds in all the zones and tested for antibodies ...
