In this study, we developed a novel immunotherapeutic peptide by linking the Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) functional peptide to the extracellular domain of FPR1, a protein overexpressed in cervical cancer, to obtain an MTBHsp70-exFPR1 fusion protein. Our experiments confirmed that the MTBHsp70-exFPR1 protein could promote DC maturation and induce the secretion of IL-12p70, IL-1β, and TNF-α. The antitumor effect of human cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) activated by autologous DCs was assessed in NOG mice. These results indicate that DCs pulsed with MTBHsp70-exFPR1 can enhance anti...

DufourAbstractIn the French bovine tuberculosis (bTB) surveillance program, tracing-on and back investigations have a major importance as, in 2016, they represented about 21% of the detected outbreaks. Building on our previous work on the other surveillance system components (Poirier et al., 2019), we evaluated for the first time the sensitivity and the cost of the two existing protocols of bTB’s tracing-on investigations trough scenario tree modelling with a stochastic a...

ConclusionIn residential settings, sufficient exposure to a variety of dusts, primarily silica-based dusts as well as those containing other less-fibrogenic materials, such as carbon, silicates and iron, have been shown to cause mixed-dust pneumoconiosis. In settings where the incidence of TB is very high, such as South Africa, the diagnosis of MDP might be overlooked due to the similarities of both diseases in their radiological presentations, especially when a detailed history of domestic exposure is omitted.

[The Conversation Africa] The infectious disease burden in Africa is very high, particularly for tuberculosis (TB), malaria and HIV/AIDS. In 2018, nearly a quarter (24%) of TB cases in the world were in Africa. The region accounted for 93% of malaria cases. The continent also bears the brunt of the HIV epidemic: 20.6 million of the 37.9 million people living with HIV are in eastern and southern Africa.

18F ‐FDG PET/CT has a higher sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy for malignant solitary pulmonary nodule. However, it has a high false positive rate and low specificity when diagnosing SPN in tuberculosis endemic areas. AbstractObjectiveTo determine the diagnostic efficacy of18F ‐FDG PET/CT in distinguishing between pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and lung cancer in solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) in a country with a high prevalence of PTB.MethodsPatients with SPN who underwent18F ‐FDG PET/CT imaging were retrospectively included in the study. The final diagnosis was established by histopathology. A linear regression eq...
