Reports of Adolescent Psychiatric Outpatients on the Impact of the TV Series “13 Reasons Why”: A Qualitative Study
In their recent study, Cooper et al. highlighted the harmful impact the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why” may have had on adolescents reporting an increase of suicide attempt admissions in a children's hospital after the release of the TV series in March 2017 [1]. Previously to the study by Cooper et al. [1], there was only so me anecdotal evidence from case studies indicating that the series triggered imitative behaviors [2,3]. There is also evidence that potentially harmful Internet queries for suicide with Google increased following the series' release [4].
