Assessing the Effectiveness of a Health Care Economics Curriculum for Radiology Residents

The economic operating environment of radiology practice is becoming increasingly complex, largely because of the current shift toward value-based medicine. This transition to a value-based, risk-sharing model of patient care [1,2] calls for a partial transference of financial risk from insurers to providers [3]. Because of this increased risk exposure, there is a growing need for radiology trainees to receive supplemental business training as an embedded component of their curriculum to prepare them for the transition from clinical training into practice.
