Morphometric study of lower end femur by using helical computed tomography

Conclusions: The current study highlights the need to develop components and implants for use in TKA and fractures of distal femur keeping the age- and sex-specific anatomical features of people of different ethnic origins in view.

CONCLUSION: This initial, non-randomized, comparative evaluation of the OPTY-LINE device for HTO has produced similar outcomes to patients treated with the established Tomofix device. In particular, the rate of post-surgical bone regeneration and surgical accuracy achieved with the OPTY-LINE device are encouraging. Large-scale randomized controlled studies with longer follow-up are indicated to further evaluate the clinical and patient-related outcome performance for OPTY-LINE. Conclusions: This cadaveric study aids in establishing the prevalence of LSTV (12.7%) in a random population and the frequency of the various Castellvi LSTV morphologies. An association was found between type Ia morphology and L4–L5 osteoarthritis which has not been reported in the past, suggesting that mild LSTV may carry more significance to lumbar pathology than previously considered.

Conclusions This scoping review confirmed that patients with malunited scaphoids seem to have higher likelihood of post traumatic arthritis. However, clinical implications remain uncertain and better methods for assessing and defining scaphoid deformity are required. AbstractIntroductionSeveral recent studies have reported accurate and reliable use of patient-specific cutting guides (PSCG) for medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OW-HTO); however, a majority of these are small cases series or ex-vivo reports. The hypothesis of this study was that performing an OW-HTO with PSCG results in a reliable and accurate correction with good or satisfactory patient-reported functional outcomes at a mean of two  years. We also hypothesized that the use of PSCG would not increase the rate of specific or non-specific complications.MethodsIn this single-centre, observational study, a pro...

Rationale: Kashin–Beck disease (KBD) is known for some typical characters like finger joint enlargement, shortened fingers, and dwarfism. However, Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the talus in KBD has rarely been reported in the literature. Here, we reported on a KBD patient presented with partial AVN of the talus in conjunction with ankle and subtalar arthritis. Patient concerns: A 50-year-old woman presented with severe pain and limited range of motion in her left ankle and subtalar joint while walking for 2 years. She had been walking with the aid of crutches for many years. Conservative treatment with rigid ortho...
