Embedded peritoneal dialysis catheter
A 24-year-old woman with a history of end-stage renal disease presented with abdominal pain. The patient was receiving hemodialysis through brachiocephalic arteriovenous fistula and had a peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter placed 1 week before presentation in anticipation of switching dialysis modalities. A computed tomography scan of the abdomen did not reveal any acute findings. It did show the PD catheter in the appropriate location (Figure 1), but there was no external portion unlike in the PD patients we routinely see (Figure 2, Supplementary Figure S1).
