First report of family clusters of Chagas disease seropositive blood donors in Mexico City and their epidemiological relevance.

CONCLUSION: blood donor's family clusters have several seropositive to T. cruzi members. Mother-child pairs were also seropositive, suggesting vertical transmition. Pathological symptom associated to Chagas Diseases were present in index cases and family member. Abstract Cardiorenal syndrome type 1 (CRS 1) occurs when acute heart failure leads to acute kidney injury. There are several etiologies of CRS 1, including Chagas disease. Here, we present the first case report of CRS 1 in a patient with acute Chagas disease. ConclusionPatients previously treated with benznidazole had significantly reduced parasitemia, a lower prevalence of markers of severe cardiomyopathy, and lower mortality after two years of follow-up. If used in the early phases, benznidazole treatment may improve clinical and parasitological outcomes in patients with chronic ChD. Chagas cardiomyopathy is the most harmful complication of Chagas disease. The electrocardiogram is a well-studied exam and has been considered an important tool for detection and evaluation of Chagas cardiomyopathy since the first years of its description. Many of its abnormalities have been described as associated with a worse prognosis. Serum BNP levels were described as inversely related to the left ventricular ejection fraction and as an independent predictor of death. It was not reported how electrocardiographic alterations correlate to NT-proBNP and its analog.
