Reduce vice chancellor pay and reward staff fairly across  the university sector

Reacting to data released today (Tuesday) by the Office for Students (OfS) on pay for senior university staff, UNISON head of education Jon Richards said: “The OfS report demonstrates the inequality and injustice at the heart of higher education pay. Many staff struggle to make ends meet yet most vice chancellors are paid more than Theresa May. “Universities must ensure all staff are properly paid for their contributions to the UK’s world-class university system. Reductions in pay for the heads of 13 universities are a welcome first step and this should be repeated across the sector.” Notes to editors: – UNISON is the UK’s largest union, with more than 1.3 million members providing public services – in education, local government, the NHS, police service and energy. They are employed in both the public and private sectors.
