This study aims to delineate the relative effectiveness between interscalene brachial plexus block with either intermediate cervical plexus or superficial cervical plexus block (CPB) as the anaesthetics for clavicular surgery. DESIGN A randomised, double-blind prospective study. SETTING Single-centre, tertiary care medical college and research institute. PATIENTS Fifty patients with American Society of Anesthesiologist's (ASA) grade I to III, aged 18 to 70 years, scheduled for clavicular surgery, during May 2018 to April 2019 were enrolled in this study. INTERVENTION All patients received interscalene block wit...

We report the use of electrostatic interaction to achieve adherence of microbubbles to tumor vasculature and resulting tumor delineation by ultrasound imaging. Methods and Materials Microbubbles were prepared from decafluorobutane gas by amalgamation of aqueous micellar medium. Distearoyl phosphatidylcholine (DSPC) and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-stearate were used as microbubble shell-forming lipids; cationic lipid distearoyl trimethylammoniumpropane (DSTAP) was included to introduce positive electrostatic charge. Microbubbles were subjected to flotation in normal gravity, to remove larger particles. Murine colon adenoca...

Abstract PURPOSE: Our primary objective was to assess the difference in position of the ultrasound-guided landmark of the cricothyroid membrane (CTM) when performed with the supine patient positioned at different head of bed (HOB) elevations. METHODS: In this prospective observational study of patients presenting to the emergency department with non-life-threatening complaints, subjects underwent ultrasound-guided landmarking of the CTM with HOB elevation at 0°, 30°, and 90°. A linear mixed effects regression model was used to assess the change in the CTM landmark associated with head position. We...
