ConclusionsOur results suggest that adjuvant embolization using bucrylate is effective and delays variceal rebleeding. The general use of covered stents, however, alleviates the utility of adjuvant bucrylate embolization which may be restricted to patients with a high risk of rebleeding indicated by large varices, active, acute or recent variceal bleeding and advanced cirrhosis. Bucrylate should not be used in isolated gastric varices because it bears a high risk of migration into the lungs.
Pediatric gastrointestinal endoscopy has been established as safe and effective for diagnosis and management of many pediatric gastrointestinal diseases. Nevertheless, certain patient and procedure factors should be recognized that increase the risk of intra- and/or postprocedural adverse events (AEs). AEs associated with endoscopic procedures can broadly be categorized as involving sedation-related physiological changes, bleeding, perforation, and infection. Factors which may increase patient risk for such AEs include but are not limited to, cardiopulmonary diseases, anatomical airway or craniofacial abnormalities, compro...

CONCLUSION Seven diagnostic groups account for the majority of the emergent ex-laps. Adjusting for four groups may improve the accuracy of risk-adjustment models for mortality and validating such analytic standardization may optimize best research practices for EGS procedures. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Prognostic and epidemiologic, Level III.
CONCLUSION We confirmed the U-shaped distribution of death related to fibrinolysis system abnormalities. Both rTEG LY30 and EXTEM CLI60 can identify the spectrum of fibrinolytic phenotypes, have moderate agreement, and can be used to guide hemostatic resuscitation. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Diagnostic study, level III.
CONCLUSION While VETs have the potential to impact the care of critically ill surgical patients in many ways, current evidence for their use is limited, mainly because of poor methodological quality of most available studies. Further high-quality research, including several ongoing randomized controlled trials, is needed to elucidate the role of TEG/ROTEM in the SICU population. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Systematic review, level IV
Conclusion: Retinal telangiectasia is a relatively quiescent and uncommon disorder in patients with pathologic myopia that might be closely related to myopic traction maculopathy.
Conclusions: An accurate baseline registration at the time of placement of the prosthesis (probing pocket depth and bone level) with ongoing yearly monitoring is essential for diagnosis and appropriate disease management.
