Relationship Between level of heart type Fatty Acid binding protein (Before and After Procedures) with Acute Renal Failure after PCI in Patients under PCI.

Relationship Between level of heart type Fatty Acid binding protein (Before and After Procedures) with Acute Renal Failure after PCI in Patients under PCI. Cardiovasc Hematol Disord Drug Targets. 2019 Feb 06;: Authors: Mohammadzadeh M, Haybar H, Assare AR, Zayeri ZD, Hoveyzian SA Abstract BACKGROUND &OBJECTIVE: Acute renal failure (AKI) is one of the most important complications of PCI. Due to delay in creatinine increase, we need specific factors to detect AKI earlier. The aim of this study is to evaluate the valuable factors with a focus on (HFAB-P) that can be predictive for AKI after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). METHODS: This prospective study was performed on 95 patients (55 males and 44 females aged between 49-78 years) under PCI in Golestan and Imam Khomeini hospitals in Ahvaz. Patients were divided into three groups based on the development of AKI after procedure: no AKI, severe AKI (doubling of serum creatinine or needing dialysis) and any type of AKI (increased creatinine ≥ 0/3 mg/dl or a 50% increase in the means of 1/5 times serum creatinine). The demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients, the medical history and the results of the HFABP marker, GFR, and creatinine before and after PCI were evaluated for all patients. RESULTS: The progenies showed six patients with severe AKI, 17 patients with any type of AKI, and 72 patients without AKI. Diabetes (P = 0.003), hypertension (P = 0.027), gender of patie...

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the prognostic value of CHA2DS2-VASc score in individuals undergoing isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. Methods: Records of consecutive 464 patients who underwent elective isolated CABG, between January 2015 and August 2017, were retrospectively reviewed. A major adverse cardiac event (MACE) was the primary outcome of this study. MACE in patients with low (L) ( 2 had 52.6% sensitivity and 84.1% specificity (AUC: 0.752, P

In conclusion, high-dose NR induces the onset of WAT dysfunction, which may in part explain the deterioration of metabolic health. Towards a Rigorous Definition of Cellular Senescence https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2019/11/towards-a-rigorous-definition-of-cellular-senescence/ The accumulation of lingering senescent cells is a significant cause of aging, disrupting tissue function and generating chronic inflammation throughout the body. Even while the first senolytic drugs capable of selectively destroying these cells already exist, and while a number of biotech companies are working on the productio...

2017 ended as a banner year for my family, but things didn’t look great at the start. A death sentence met us in a boxing ring, and we had to school ourselves on fighting to live. I never thought much about the 37 million American adults who suffer from kidney disease until my husband Neil became one of them. Celebrating our first year of marriage in 2001, we learned by accident through an unrelated medical exam that my husband has polycystic kidney disease, an illness which causes the kidneys to fill with cysts over time, rendering the organs unable to function properly. There is no cure. There was nothing to do but...

Abstract Ten percent of the world's population is affected by chronic kidney disease that can lead to kidney failure. In France, nearly three million people are concerned, half of whom are undiagnosed, 85,000 people are on dialysis or waiting for a kidney transplant. Each year, 11,000 new diagnoses of severe renal failure are made, one third of which had not been treated before. Kidney failure is constantly increasing due to the aging of the population and the resurgence of chronic diseases, including obesity and cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes, two conditions that impair...

Abstract Reduced nitric oxide (NO) and a decrease in cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) signaling mediated by soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) has been linked to development of several cardiorenal diseases. Stimulating sGC is a potential means for enhancing cGMP production in conditions of reduced NO bioavailability. The purpose of our studies was to determine the effects of praliciguat, a clinical-stage sGC stimulator, in a model of cardiorenal failure. Dahl salt-sensitive (DSS) rats fed a high-salt diet to induce hypertension and organ damage were treated with the sGC stimulator praliciguat to determine its ef...

Abstract Background and Objectives: Diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension (HT) are characterized by cell damage caused by inflammatory and metabolic mechanisms induced by alteration in reduction-oxidative status. Serum advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) are new markers of protein damage induced by oxidative stress. We evaluated serum levels of AOPP in a cohort of patients with DM and HT, with or without renal complications, compared with a control healthy population. Materials and Methods: The study group comprised of 62 patients with type 2 DM and 56 with HT. The 62 patients affected by DM were further ...

CONCLUSION: Diabetics with CKD stage ≥4 (as defined by the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes criteria) constitute a high-risk group for developing AKI after TAVI. In this high-risk subgroup, baseline creatinine in combination with amount of contrast agent used were strong risk factors for developing AKI. AKI in non-diabetics was less predictable by baseline characteristics. PMID: 31567117 [PubMed - in process]

ConclusionOB, HT, and HL are independent risk factors for a number of complications. HT is an independent risk factor for severity as well. Components of MetS strongly synergize each other’s detrimental effect. It is important to search for and follow up on the components of MetS in AP.
