Behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by profound deficits in social cognition, including ToM. We investigate whether bvFTD affects intention attribution tendency while viewing abstract animations and whether this might represent...

Treatment consisted of injection of 2% ozone (10 mL): 3 mL delivered into the nucleus pulposus and 7 mL delivered into the adja...

ConclusionsResidual activity in a commercial administration system for resin microsphere radioembolization is variable and does not systematically depend on initial yttrium-90 activity or on injection technique. Predilection sites for residual activity were identified, which should receive special attention when performing resin transarterial radioembolization procedures, and for further administration system developments.

ConclusionsPositioning errors with the use of US-CT fusion imaging used in this study are not negligible for the insertion of a 22-gauge needle in the liver. Physicians must be aware of such possible errors to adapt the treatment when used for thermal ablation.

AbstractAs medical imaging advancements have improved the detectability of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in early stages, the approach to percutaneous thermal ablation for curative treatment has concomitantly advanced. Although many centers are adopting cross-sectional imaging to guide percutaneous ablation, the majority of procedures are still performed under ultrasound (US) guidance worldwide. Challenges to ultrasound guidance may present due to relatively poor resolution particularly with small or isoechoic lesions, or due to intervening structures such as the bowel or diaphragm that obstruct lesional visualization. Fu...

AbstractAimsTo investigate laboratory parameters as predictors of overall survival (OS) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with radioembolization and develop/validate a scoring system.MethodsWith IRB approval, we included all patients with baseline alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)  >  100 ng/dL from our prospectively acquired HCC radioembolization database. Neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio, albumin–bilirubin (ALBI), and AFP were measured at baseline and at 1-, 3-, and 6-month post-radioembolization Landmarks. OS was assessed from these Landmarks. Univariate/multivariate analys es were performed ...

ConclusionLocal thermal ablation for the oligoprogressive lesions with continuous EGFR-TKI treatment is associated with additional 10  months of disease control and should be recommended in TKI acquired resistant-NSCLC patients.

AbstractPurposeTo compare the accumulation and effect of liposomal doxorubicin in liver tissue treated by radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and irreversible electroporation (IRE) in in vivo porcine models.Materials and MethodsSixteen RFA and 16 IRE procedures were performed in healthy liver of two groups of three pigs. Multi-tined RFA parameters included: 100  W, target temperature 105°C for 7 min. 100 IRE pulses were delivered using two monopolar electrodes at 2250 V, 1 Hz, for 100 µsec. For each group, two pigs received 50 mg liposomal doxorubicin (0.5 mg/kg) as a drip infusion during ...
